ABOUT MY WORK
My art explores the mental health struggles of Black youth, transforming their invisible burdens into tangible forms through painting and sculpture. Using air-drying clay, I sculpt figures adorned in vibrant, fashionable clothing representing their exterior façade with a cluster of red balloons obscuring their face—a powerful symbol of the complex, unseen stigma and silent struggles they carry. Through the use of air-drying clay and acrylic paint, I re-contextualize perceptions of mental health, fostering dialogue and creating a space for empathy, reflection, and healing.
